It was early morning, the sun had just risen above the horizon, casting out its light upon the lands. Ashcoat Mountain still stood in it's prominent place over the land, standing tall and dominant to the tiny trees dotted around it. Daybreak had only just begun, but there was little chirping from birds, due to many migrating. The weather was clear and sunny, however chilly and a frost lay upon the ground like a light blanket of ice.
It had not been long now since Crimson had had something to drink, from the local river upon the mountain. She winded her way down the slope until she found somewhere for her to nap. She had only been asleep a few hours however until something stirred her.
Deep inside her stomach she felt an extremely painful rumble, it was so painful that she ended up vomiting all over some grass nearby. he didn't understand why this was happening, she ahd never been ill before in her life. She assumed it was a stomach bug and tried to settle back down to sleep.
She foudn that the pain in her stomanch was unbearable that she could not sleep. It felt as if it was being burnt from the inside out. Tears welled up in Crimson's eyes. She felt death near but for some reason it did not come.
She could now be seen squirming in pain upon the ground, nothing could stop her pain.

Trodding up the mountain, Venus noticed that a fox was squirming upon the ground. This was peculiar behavior, as there was nothing else except for her to hide her scent from, and the only thing under her anyway was grass. She noticed a stream nearby, but didn't feel that thirsty. Venus realised that this fox was the one who had saved her from Gorgan Canyon - Crimson. She was indebted to this fox. And it could be seen now squirming upon the ground, perhaps in pain. Well, all debts must be paid, Venus thought, and gathered some nearby herbs, among them snakeroot, juniper, wintergreen, and poppy.
Jogging over to Crimson, Venus set down the herbs and asked, Is there something wrong? Are you hurt? I might be able to help. She would not let this fox die, not as long as she was around to ensure her life. She owed this fox, and fully intended to repay her debt.

Yasian had treked for many moons, glad to have found something recognisable, days of thick forest wasn't good for any wolf.
The large mountain ahead of him seemed familiar, but he couldn't think clearly, he was too glad to have finally found a place to rest. He started to climb the mountain, hoping to learn the landscape from the high vantage point.
Yasian had a near photographic memory, something which he prided himself in. The sun felt good on his fur, a warmth that spread through his whole body, putting him in a good mood.
The good mood quickly evaporated when he saw a wolf and fox ahead of him. The fox was writhing on the ground, as though something was trying to escape from it's body, but couldn't find a way out. The wolf was standing over it, with what he could smell as herbs, and worked out what was happening instantly.
He didn't need to think twice, he knew what he had to do, he loped up the hill to the other wolf.
'What's happened, she looks ill, can I help?' Yasian asked worriedly.
He was new to these lands, but that didn't matter until he helped the fox before him, and nothing would stop him helping.
'Through hell and high water...' he thought.

Crimson heard vices around her, but it was all hard to disguinish through the immense pain she was feeling. Then asked one of them ask her for help, yes that was what she needed.
"Get me.. lumberries..." Seh gasped, her mother always gave her these when she was little and they seemed to work, although she had never been as ill as this before. She hoped this would work. She did not know how long she had, but she guessed not long...

Okay, but take this first. Venus scooted the poppies and a bit of wintergreen towards her. Lumberries... Venus didn't know what they were, much less what they looked like. She would ask once Crimson could talk more easily. This is Midnight Sun. You saved me from Gorgan Canyon. But don't try to remember that now. Just relax your- Venus was talking in a voice very audible, yet hopeful. However, the sound of another wolf startled her, and she turned to see a white wolf with a concerned look on his face.
She realised this wolf asked how he could help, and Venus knew how he might be able to. Wolf... It didn't seem right to call the new brute "Wolf," but she didn't know her name. Do you know what lumberries look like? This fox needs them. Whether Crimson was taking a wild guess about what might help her or had personal experience with what was called lumberries, Venus was ready to try anything. Anything to save the fox who had saved her.

Yasian watched as the fox twisted on the ground, it seemed like she was trying to say something. He looked up as the other wolf asked him to get lumberries, and suddenly a picture flashed through his mind, of himself as a cub, running through the forest eating.....
Of course! I'll be as quick as I can! Yasian replied, and he thanked the Gods for his memory as he pounded towards some nearby bushes, a short way back down the slope.

Thank you! Venus barked back to this new wolf. Suddenly, the back of her throat felt sticky, and she treaded over to the water to have a drink. Her head bent, her tougne out, ready to lap up the posioned water. However, her head stopped just above the surface, and she thought an interesting thought. Could this water be the reason that the fox was ill? she thought. Might as well find out. For the Light. She thought as her tounge broke the contaminated, possibly lethal surface.
Venus didn't drink much; only a few laps. However, she felt side effects almost immediately after drinking. Not horrible ones, but side effects nontheless. Her stomach gave an odd rumbling, as if of defiance. Soon the aching started. It slowly grew as she stood there. Suddenly, something occured to her. A very odd thought, yet possibly a lifesaving one, as she had drank very contaminated water. BARF! As if on command, her stomach contracted, her throat expanded, and out came the water which had come in not long ago.
As she walked back to the fox, just to be safe, she ate a bit of the snakeroot. She was sure of what this was now; poisoned water. She was glad she had gathererd poison counterers; the fox would need them. She also gathered some dandelion, and ate a bit. Her stomach still protested, and she probably wouldn't be able to eat or drink for a bit, but at least she was not in Crimson's position. This way, she could help and warn wolves.

Yasian ran down the slope, praying he could find the berries in time. He reached the bushes ahead of him, and he saw the berries he had seen in his vision, exactly as they were here.
Without thinking twice he grabbed a branch of the bush and pelted back up the slope, his white and grey body nothing but a blurr. Yasian wasn't normally very fast, in fact he had a limp, but the idea of another's life in his hand made him leap into action.
He stopped dead in his tracks. The fae was drinking from the nearby, he face slightly twisted, like she was fighting something. And then it hit him. The water must be contaminated, causing this sickness, and it was only a matter of time before the sickness spread, or every wolf died of thirst.
I've got the berries! Yasian said as the other wolf ate her own herbs.

Crimson heard the voices all around her, not really knowing what was happening. Her vision was blurry and she thought she hallucinating, whatever poison that was in the water was not a very nice one. Crimson swore she saw thw sky turn purple ad birds with two heads flew above her. She was fighting to stay concious, if she was to eat these berries she ahd to stay awake.

Yasian watched, silent, the vixen's condition didn't seem to be improving. What can we do? Yasian asked the other wolf, who looked better. I'm Yasian, by the way, I'm new here, sorry I didn't say earlier but... what am I saying? This is no time for introductions, we need to get this fox to healer, and soon, but I don't know the area... Yasian said, trying to keep his panic under control, knowing that the next few minutes could decide the fat of the poor creature before them.
What are we going to do?

Venus heard the other wolf talking, and only heard him mention a healer. She noticed the fox had not eaten any of the berries yet. She scooted the berries and some herbs closer to Crimson, speaking loudly and clearly. Here's the berries. Eat the other herbs too. All of them will help. She spoke more surely than she sounded. Her stomach was still queasy, and she didn't feel good, although she was sure it was not as bad as Crimson's. And she wasn't sure that the herbs would help at all. She was only going on knowledge and hope.
I know a bit of the ways of plants, and am always seeking for more knowledge. You could hardly call me a healer, though. I know few plants and their medicinal values. I hope the herbs that I gave the vixen will help. She then thought about the water. If it infected Ashcoat Mountain, it would effect... all other water sources in the land! Venus subconciously barked with fear at the thought. But not all of them... Venus suddenly had an idea.
We need to get this fox to Neptunes Lake now! She spoke with a ferocity that she hadn't expected. Whether she likes it or not, we need to carry her on our backs. Since any load can be tiring, we will need to switch off. I'm Venus, by the- By the time she realised she had given Yasain her real name, it was too late. If anyone asks me my name, tell them I am Midnight Sun. I rarely give out my real name. Now, who should start carrying the fox?

Ok, Midnight Sun, I'll carry her first, although I don't know where we're going, so if you carry the herbs and lead the way, I'll follow. Yasian said, sounding confident. I just hope my limp doesn't act upHe thought to himself.

Thank you, Yasian, Venus started, but we should probably wait until she finishes her herbs. I may not be able to carry her for a while. Until I can run faster, we will probably be at a relatively slow pace. She felt slightly nauseatic, and so lay down in her favorite position - on her stomach, paws out, head on paws as she waited for Crimson to eat the herbs and for her stomach to calm down.

Inside Yasian knew Venus was right but he didn't like standing and not doing anything. As she lay down, Yasian decided to get a few more berries for the vixen to eat.
Next to the bushes was a fast flowing stream, a prickle danced at the back of Yasian's throat, telling him he was thirsty, so, without thinking carefully in this unfimiliar territory, he happily lapped up some water.
He stopped abruptly. He could feel his stomach writhing and twisting in protest, a he was violently sick into the river. He went back to the bush, clear in his mind now of what had happened to the fox, and ate a few berries and basic herbs he knew from his Mother.
Immediately his stomach quietened Good thing I treated quickly he thought, and was glad he had found a cure, but it was useless anyway, right now, other wolves would be drinking unaware, and suffering like the vixen.
Now he was torn. Go ahead and warn the others, or wait and help carry the fox. He was so unsure he howled a warning, hoping it's unfamiliar sound would get the forest's attention. But he wasn't even sure if he could be heard from here.
He returned to the wolf and lay beside her, this was the first chance he'd had to properly look at her, she was very beautiful, sleek, elegant... No, you said you wouldn't get involved again, not after... Yasian's thoughts trailed off.
He knew what he was going to do. Stay and help. This wolf couldn't save this life alone.

Crimson sniffed what was next to and although she felt as if she was gonig to wretch she gulped down the berries and herbs, she didn't instantly feel reflief, in fact it was mroe painful for the fact that she was putting something else in her stomach, she really hoped it would work. And then, the immense pain ended, as she fell into a state of unconciousness.
